Women’s Center … Big Clean Up
The timing couldn’t have been better for Sylvie and Lisa to announce that they would help with a big clean-up of the Women’s Centre land … we had just had a violently windy thunderstorm, and trees had blown down all over the village … including a few on the women’s land … worst among them being this tree that fell directly over the Galera that the women use for meetings and classes.
There was an excellent turn-out of the group to begin the cleaning. Lisa is 3rd from left and Sylvie is 5th from left.
Everybody dove right into their jobs … some chopping and clearing out the weeks …

while others were raking and cleaning up the cut weeds and garbage that had blown in.
Edgar Adelio was on hand with his chainsaw to give the women a hand cutting up the tree.
Sylvie was right in the middle of the cleaning … helping to haul away the leaves and branches for composting, and to pile the wood for the cooking fire.
As the women cleaned, they hauled in rocks and piled them in circles around the fruit trees of there Jungle Garden.
By the end of Day 2, the tree was chopped and piled up …
And most of the land was clean, with rocks piled around the fruit trees. There is more to do still, but now that the hot season has ended and the group has been reenergised, it won’t take long.
