The last but not least part of the new village Tree of Life was to add the roots.

With the help of Don Pablo (on the truck), Edgar and his son, Enrique, we brought in another truckload of cementing materials ….

The metal bars were pulled together into groups of 3 or 4, and encased in the same wire tubes that formed the branches of the tree.

Then each root was encased in cement.

A little neighbour found himself a cozy place to rest out of the sun.

After the roots were formed, we used a mix of three colours of powdered paint, sprinkled over the wet cement and worked in with gentle swipes of a trowel, to paint the roots the colour of real ceiba roots.

The finished effect was excellent!
