Right Now at Project Ix-canaan
There are no volunteers at the library right now, but there are always a group of kids that show up every afternoon to hang out together. Right now, Alex has involved them in an educational card game that many of them are becoming quite good at.
There is a very large group of INED Academy (High School) students inside the library, studying Computer Sciences with instructor Adolfo. This school uses the facilities from 1 to 5 p.m. two afternoons per week. In return for using the facilities for their classes, the students are keeping our few old computers clean and operational.
And Anne and Enrique have spent the day distilling a new batch of essential oil and hydrosol of Cuban Oregano, which research shows helps regulate blood sugar levels in diabetics (amongst many other things). Since we are unable to get medications for diabetics to support the very large number of people with this illness here in the village, we are always watching for natural, obtainable ways to treat the illness.
