North Carolina State Volunteers: Well-Baby Clinic
This is the second year for the Well-Baby Clinic run by the students of NC State.
The students divided into pairs, and each pair interviewed a parent, noting historical information about the child or children.
Then, each pair of students took the child through a series of tests to determine its overall health and developmental level.
Each pair of students was able to work with several children who were presenting with a variety of symptoms.
One of the happy patients.
Part of the exam was to check pulse …
temperature …
length
or height.
Many times, the students had made new friends by the time they had worked with the family.
Another happy patient.
The students gained experience in working with patients.
The babies love all the attention!
The students learned a lot about the diseases and health conditions that are endemic to the area.
At the end of each consult, Dr. Enrique was available to consult about specific problems.
And Wendy gave each family some vitamins and baby clothing.
This girl was thrilled with her new pink dress.
