Laura Lagendyk Teaches A New Game: Mancala
Canadian volunteer, Laura Lagendyk, came prepared with all the ingredients to teach a new game to the children. The game, called Mancala, originated in Africa. It takes just a few minutes to learn, but takes years to master and can be played by all ages.
The children began by decorating their containers for holding their pieces.
They loved sticking a variety of stickers all over the small plastic tubs …
and everywhere else as well 🙂
While the kids were decorating their tubs, Laura taught Margo and Alex how to play the game so that they would be able to continue showing children how to play.
By the time the class was over, the children had already become proficient at the game, and were giving Alex a run for the money!
