Dentistry for All
Early on the Monday morning of the Dentistry for All annual Dental Journey, Dr. Brad Krusky, the leader of the group, gives a quick pep talk to get the group revved up for a long busy day of seeing patients.
The group had arrived on Saturday afternoon, and immediately unpacked their trucks and started setting up their portable chairs and dental stations. By the time the doors opened on Monday morning, the entire library had been transformed into a giant dental clinic.

The group usually includes lots of volunteers that aren’t dentists. Here, Rory helps translate for one of the young patients.

These hard working volunteers, many from Canada, will do cleanings, extractions, fillings and root canals for well over 300 patients during the 5 days they are in the village.
————————————-
Guatemalan dentist, Rodolfo Montenegro, who practices at the national hospital in Santa Elena, always joins the group for the week to help out.

Karen Topolinski, from Saskatchewan, Canada, helps out by translating and comforting some of the young patients.

There are also volunteers who keep all the equipment for all the dental teams sterilised and sorted and delivered back to the work stations.
