Adding Branches

The next phase of the Ceiba Tree Sculpture was to add branches that would withstand the high winds of tropical storms.

They began by wrapping the “trunk” with a band of wire.

The next step was to bend rebar 3 or 4 feet from the end, and place it up against the “trunk” … using plastic ties to attach the rebar and to the band of wire, thus holding the rebar up tight against the trunk.

The rebar was attached all around the trunk at varying heights.

Then Jennifer began the process of bending and shaping the “branches” …

Until she had achieved the shape that she wanted …

At which point, Edgar put the last 4 bars of rebar down inside of the tube and tied them together …

And they, too, were bent into their new form …

just in time to be blessed by a double rainbow!!
