A Chair for Eddi Felipe
Last year’s group of volunteer students from North Carolina installed a cement floor in the home of Eddi Felipe, a child with Down’s Syndrome. When they returned to North Carolina they discussed how best they could help him.
Eddi’s physical coordination is so poor that he is unable to stand or walk and spends his days reclining in a wooden lawn chair or being carried around. His family are very poor, and can’t afford even the transportation to take him to Santa Elena for physiotherapy.
The students decided to get Eddi a special chair that he could use to either sit in or move around in. It has arm rests with velcro to hold his arms steady, and by using it, he can not only move around, but it will strengthen his muscles and improve his coordination.
Thank you very much to all the contributors to this very thoughtful and useful gift!!
