13 Computers Donated by S.I.F.E.
Huge THANKS goes to the S.I.F.E. Group that was here a couple of weeks ago, and who had arranged for the shipment of 13 computers that they hoped would be here in time to set up the computer lab for the classes that they taught while they were here. Unfortunately, the shipment was tied up in customs for quite a lot longer than anticipated, and has just been released.
Thanks also to Eduardo Cofiño, owner of Hotel Gringo Perdido for paying for the taxes that were charged on the shipment, and to Lety Veliz, his office assistant for doing all the paperwork that Customs required
We were called to go into Santa Elena early Saturday morning to pick them up. The first dozen boxes were unpacked and loaded onto our truck.
Santos Garcia was available to help with the delivery of the second palette, that was loaded into his truck wrapped, and then unpacked in the Ix-canaan Library.
It takes a lot of boxes to ship 13 computer with accessories.
We unpacked all the pieces
And put them all together in sets.
As a final test, we wired one together, plugged it in and turned on the internet … SUCCESS! The first one is online!!
