After almost 5 years of operation under primitive conditions, Los Molineros de Arroz de Guatemala donated funds to finance the design and construction of a secure, modern building of cement block to house the Community Clinic, which was opened to the public in February, 2000. Ongoing donations of medical supplies and equipment enable volunteer doctors to continue to better the services to the people.

Since its inception in August of 1995, more than 10,000 cases have recieved diagnosis and treatment through the auspices of the Clinic.

The general health level of the local population is very poor with infant mortality rates of 33%. Malaria and Dengue Fever are endemic. Bronchial problems (asthma, infections) are frequent, as are intestinal disorders (infections, parasites, amoebic dysentery), various fungus infections (skin, intestines), chronic dehydration and malnutrition.
